This Sunday! Q&A with Khaled Abou El Fadl on Spiritual and Sexual Abuse

Al salamu alaykum dear Friends,

I pray you are well and mentally gearing up for Ramadan, which is only two weeks away! I seriously cannot believe it. It feels like Ramadan was here only a few months back. Alhamdulillah! For me, Ramadan always comes with great anticipation, a bit of nervousness, and a feeling of unpreparedness, which thankfully passes the moment it arrives. I am excited for the sensations, the change in the air, and the presence of something divinely different that is only discernible at this time of year. May it be a wondrous time of reflection and rejuvenation for all!

At a time when most days are filled with bad news, I am happy and grateful to be able to share some good news and even exciting news. :) First, we just received our first Ramadan present early. Some very kind souls have gifted us the ability to hold our very first Matching Gift Program during the month of Ramadan! So, all during our blessed month, every donation to The Usuli Institute will be matched dollar for dollar up to $40K! You can double your impact with your support! Alhamdullilah, we are so grateful that this opportunity will increase blessings for all involved insha'Allah! Please spread the word and mark your calendars! The anticipated start date for Ramadan is April 2nd, so I pray that we can take full advantage of this blessed gift over the course of the month!

Next, I am really excited for our special Q&A event this weekend - Sexual Abuse and Spiritual Abuse: Dispelling Myths from an Islamic Perspective. Any time we have the opportunity to tackle a controversial topic and shed light on darkness, I am thrilled. This issue has become pervasive in our community and I am looking forward to addressing tough questions head on, with truth, transparency, and a respect for nuance, sensitivity and empathy that a topic like this requires. If you haven't registered yet, please do so at the link below. We will also be live streaming on YouTube, where you will also be able to find the recording after the event.
