Project Illumine: Surah 84 Al Inshiqaq

Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl presents his original English commentary on Surah 84, Al Inshiqaq. As part of the Project Illumine: The Light of the Quran series at The Usuli Institute (www.usuli.org), this deep investigation into the meaning of the Quran as the early Muslims understood it, arises from Dr. Abou El Fadl's lifetime study and relationship with the Quran. This is not a traditional line-by-line exegesis, but rather a study into the unique meaning of each individual chapter of the Quran as part of a whole, taking into account the details of how the early Muslims received and understood the Islamic message at the time of revelation, and how that moral understanding applies to our modern context and challenges today. In the introduction, Executive Director Grace Song shares memories and reflections from her early convert days on the occasion of her Muslim birthday. This session includes the commentary (tafsir) and Q&A.
