Part 1: Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl shares the ground-breaking results of his lifelong engagement with the Quran in this new tafsir halaqa. He shares his personal journey in discovering the meaning of Surah al Rahman, Chapter 55 of the Quran. This is the third example of the application of Dr. Abou El Fadl's original methodology.

Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl concludes his line-by-line original commentary (tafsir) on Surah 89 Al Fajr. After a brief review, he continues from Verse 17. In the introduction, Executive Director Grace Song gives an update on the New Quran Project and shares reflections on the topic of the Signs of God raised in the New Quran Halaqa on Surah al Jathiya through two events in her life in the past week.

Part 1: Introduction and Tafsir. Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl introduces a new approach to understanding the Quran, chapter by chapter, the fruit of a lifelong engagement with the holy text of Islam. In this pilot halaqa, he explains how his journey with the Quran developed and evolved over the years and the questions that he engaged from the time of his youth. He presents the methodology he developed and demonstrates it in delving into the meaning of one sample chapter - Surah 57: Al Hadid (Iron).

TRANSCRIPT: "This project to share the result of my long-term engagement with the Quran, to be done properly and effectively, and to get through the entire Quran. At least if I could afford a year of leave where I'm on leave from school and doing nothing but the Quranic halaqas, that would be ideal. "It's very difficult to imagine how I could do this while teaching because of just the numerous obligations that I have. But, there was a further idea...
